The Scottish Land LiDAR Programme is the result of collaboration across government to capture LiDAR data for the country. The Rural and Environment Science and Analytical Services (RESAS) team and Digital Directorate teams have worked collaboratively with the UK's Government Digital Service, who have provided our mechanism for data collection through the Aerial Photography for Great Britain (APGB) Project.
The programme is funded jointly by Scottish Government (including Agriculture and Rural Economy, Environment and Forestry, RESAS, Agricultural Reform Programme, and Digital Directorate), Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Foresty and Land Scotland, NatureScot, Scottish Water and Scottish Forestry.
The data are collected and processed by Bluesky International Limited.
The data will be captured between 2025 to 2027. This dataset is from the 2025 capture, and is supplied as:
- Point cloud (.laz format) with a resolution of 10 points per square metre
- Digital Terrain Model and Digital Surface Model (DTM and DSM), available for download as GeoTIFF, and also supplied via WMS by JNCC.
