2004 - 2004 Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) Survey : CORY 14/04B (part of Western English Channel Groundfish Survey using Charter Vessels Bogey 1 and Carhelmar, Qtr 4 (FSS: CARHELMAR))

This survey was undertaken by Cefas as part of the Western English Channel Groundfish Survey using Charter Vessels Bogey 1 and Carhelmar, Qtr 4 (FSS: CARHELMAR);

This survey series ran from 1984 to 2013. The aim was to provide fisheries independent abundance indices of all age groups of sole and plaice which are used in assessment working groups to tune the ICES stock assessment and to estimate recruitment. The survey was undertaken annually. Fifty eight trawl stations on the main sole grounds in the English waters of the Western English Channel were fished and sampled. Surveys were carried out on chartered commercial fishing vessels with Cefas staff on board.

Survey took place between 07/09/2004 and 11/10/2004 on Corystes

Equipment used during this survey :

  • Beam Trawl 4m steel commercial 3/5 link mat flip up 75mm CE 40mm liner AFT
  • Water sampled for caesium analysis

Survey operations were undertaken on 80 stations

108 different species were caught on this survey
